WELL AND GOOD SHORT BREAD PASTRY

Short bread pastry is perfect for tart shells. Once baked, just add your favourite filling like custard, lemon curd, meringue, chocolate, or fruit.

Method

STEP 1

Preheat oven to 190°C fan forced (374°F). Prepare your tart tin/s with a light spray of oil. 

STEP 2

Combine margarine or butter with the sugar and pastry flour, rubbing it between your fingers until it becomes the consistency of breadcrumbs. 

STEP 3

Turn the dough out onto a lightly dusted bench and knead to bring it together. 

STEP 4

Roll out the pastry to 4mm thick or refrigerate for up to 3 days. 

STEP 5

Cut pastry circles to cover the bottom and sides of the tin. 

 

STEP 6

Bake the tart shells for 13 minutes.
